WHAT IS PANSEC L?

PANSEC L contains Levosulpiride which belongs to a group of gut motility enhancing medicines and Pantoprazole which belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which works by reducing the production of acid in the stomach

WHAT PANSEC L IS USED FOR?

It is used in the treatment of

Dyspeptic syndrome: from delayed gastric emptying related to organic factors or functional factors
Nausea and vomiting induced by anticancer drugs
GORD (to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease), to prevent recurrence of the disease after the symptoms have disappeared
Stomach and duodenal ulcers
Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: whose stomachs may contain extremely high amounts of acid

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:

TALK TO DOCTOR

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

Are allergic to levosulpiride, pantoprazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Are allergic to other proton pump inhibitor medicines
Have hypertension which is suspected to be due to pheochromocytoma (tumor of adrenal gland)
Have heart failure
Have risk factors for stroke
Have epilepsy
Have breast cancer
Have a stomach tumour
Have liver problems
Suffer from gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstructions or perforations
Have difficulty in swallowing or pain when swallowing
Have history of clinical thrombosis, since the medicine is associated with the formation of thrombi
Have reduced body stores or risk factors for reduced vitamin B12
Have low levels of magnesium, potassium or calcium levels in the blood

PREGNANCY & BREAST FEEDING

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine

CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS

This medicine should not be used in children and adolescents

DRIVING & USING MACHINES

This medicine may cause drowsiness, numbness, or dyskinesia?s, therefore, you should avoid driving and operations requiring vigilance

INTERACTIONS:

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking

Medicines that cause electrolyte disturbances
Medicines such as neuroleptics e.g, aripiprazole,clonazapine ,quetiapine
Are taking HIV protease inhibitors such as atazanavir (for the treatment of HIV-infection)
Antipsychotics
Medicines such as ketoconazole, itraconazole and posaconazole (used to treat fungal infections)
Erlotinib (used for certain types of cancer)
Warfarin and phenprocoumon, which affect the thickening, or thinning of the blood. Methotrexate (used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and cancer)
Rifampicin (used to treat infections)
St John?s wort (Hypericum perforatum) (used to treat mild depression)

DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
Take the tablet whole with little amount of water
The tablet should not be chewed or crushed

If you take more PANSEC L

Contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital immediately

If you forget to take PANSEC L

If you have forgotten to take a dose, take it immediately when you remember and continue the treatment as usual
If it is almost time to take the next dose, you should not take the forgotten tablet

If you stop taking PANSEC L

Do not stop taking unless told by your doctor

SIDE EFFECTS OF PANSEC L CAPSULE:

SERIOUS

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

• Pantoprazole
• Swelling of the tongue and/or throat
• Difficulty in swallowing, hives (nettle rash)
• Difficulties in breathing
• Allergic facial swelling
• Dizziness with very fast heartbeat and heavy sweating

COMMON

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

• Pantoprazole
• Benign polyps in the stomach

UNCOMMON

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

• Pantoprazole
• An Increase In Liver Enzymes
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Bloating And Flatulence
• Constipation
• Dry Mouth
• Abdominal Pain
• Discomfort
• Skin Rash
• Exanthema
• Eruption
• Itching
• Sleep Disorders
• Fracture In The Hip
• Wrist Or Spine

RARE

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

• Levosulpiride
• Ventricular arrhythmias, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation
• Pantoprazole
•Distortion or complete lack of the sense of taste, disturbances in vision such as blurred vision, hives
• Pain in the joints, muscle pains, weight changes, raised body temperature, high fever, swelling of the extremities, allergic reactions
• Depression
• Breast enlargement in males
• An increase in bilirubin, increased fat levels in blood
• Sharp drop in circulating granular white blood cells, associated with high fever

VERY RARE

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

• Pantoprazole
•  Disorientation
• A reduction in the number of blood platelets, which may cause you to bleed or bruise more than normal
• A reduction in the number of white blood cells, which may lead to more frequent infections

STORAGE:

Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Store at room temperature (15-25?C)
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
