Lidozone Ear Drops 10 ml belongs to the group of medications called ‘otic agents’ used in the symptomatic treatment of otitis media. Otitis media is the inflammation of the middle ear or middle ear infections. It causes ear pain and fever. It is commonly seen in young children.

Lidozone Ear Drops 10 ml contains Lidocaine and Phenazone. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that is used to numb pain. It acts by blocking the pain signals from reaching the brain, thereby decreasing pain.

Phenazone is an analgesic (pain killer) and anti-inflammatory agent. It reduces the production of chemical substances that cause pain and inflammation. It also potentiates the action of Lidocaine.

You should take this medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Common side-effects with Ear Drops 10 ml like, local allergic reactions (itching, maculopapular rash), auditory canal hyperaemia (increase of blood flow). However, if you experience any side-effects, inform your doctor immediately.

It is not recommended to take Lidozone Ear Drops 10 ml if you are allergic to any contents of it. It should not be used in people who have tympanic perforation (perforated or burst eardrum), even if it is due to surgical manipulation.

Before taking Ear Drops 10 ml, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Ear Drops 10 ml is probably safe when used in children and elderly people. Ear Drops 10 ml may not interact with alcohol and may not affect your ability to drive.

WHAT LIDOZONE IS USED FOR?

It is used to relieve symptoms in the following diseases of the middle ear without tympanic perforation such as:

Acute, congestive otitis media
Otitis in influenza, the so called viral bullous otitis
Barotraumatic otitis

Medicinal Benefits

Ear Drops 10 ml is used to reduce ear pain and inflammation in patients with middle ear infections. This medicine is used to treat acute otitis media (inflammation of the middle ear), middle ear inflammation due to flu and barotraumatic damage of the middle ear (due to rapid changes in pressure in the ear).

It contains Lidocaine and Phenazone. Lidocaine reduces pain, whereas Phenazone helps to reduce inflammation and also increases the effectiveness of lidocaine.

Directions for Use

Lidozone Ear Drops 10 ml is available in the form of ear drops.Ear drops: Wash your hands thoroughly with water before and after use. Take the prescribed amount of dose with the dropper and squeeze out a drop without touching the ear. Wipe any excess liquid with a tissue.
Do not wipe or rinse the dropper tip after use. Place the dropper back on the bottle and tighten the cap.Note: Do not touch the tip of the dropper as it may contaminate the contents. Do not place the tip directly into the ear while instilling the drop.
If the dropper touches the ear, immediately squeeze two to three drops onto the tissue and wipe the dropper’s tip with saltwater. Do not put any cotton into the ear after administration of ear drops. Discard any unused medicine after the completion of the course of therapy.

Ear Drop is a local anesthetic. It is used in the treatment of ear pain. It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation.

Ear Drop is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. You can help the medicine work better by keeping the affected areas clean, making sure they are dry, and washing your hands before and after treating the infection.

It is generally well-tolerated with little or no side effects. However, it may cause irritation, itching, and burning sensation immediately following application. These side effects are temporary and usually subside on their own. Inform your doctor if they persist for a longer duration.

Although medicines used on the ear are not normally affected by other medicines, you should let your doctor know if you are taking any other medicine to be safe. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask the advice of your doctor before using the medicine.

Drug Warnings

Lidozone Ear Drops 10 ml should not be used in patients with perforated eardrums even if it is due to surgical manipulation. Symptoms of a perforated eardrum are ear pain, vertigo, ringing or buzzing sensation in the ear, discharge of fluid or blood from the ear, and sudden hearing loss.

Your doctor usually checks if the eardrum is intact before prescribing this medicine. While using Ear Drops 10 ml, inform your doctor if you notice any discharge from the ear and stop the medicine immediately.

Lidozone Ear Drops 10 ml may cause methemoglobinemia (increased hemoglobin levels in the blood which can lead to decreased oxygen levels). Therefore, Ear Drops 10 ml should be used with caution in individuals who are at risk of methemoglobinemia, such as infants under 3 months of age and individuals with Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency (a genetic disorder that causes the breakdown of red blood cells).
