CYTOGARD MR contain Trimetazidine which belongs to a group of medicine called pFOX (Partial fatty acid oxidation) inhibitors.
This medicine is used in combination with other medicines to treat angina pectoris (chest pain caused by coronary disease) in adults.
Heart receives reduced oxygen supply during an episode of angina and this medicine protects the heart cells during this condition.
Angina pectoris is a condition mark by severe pain in the chest, often also spreading to the shoulders, arms, and neck, owing to an inadequate blood supply to the heart.
Angina is a symptom of coronary artery disease.
CYTOGARD MR works by shifting its metabolism from fats to glucose, thus decreasing the oxygen requirement of the heart.
As a result, the heart works more efficiently.

Common side effects
The common side effects are dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, rash, itching, hives, and feeling of weakness.
This medicine strictly not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years.
Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Always take CYTOGARD MR exactly as your doctor has told you.
This medicine must be taken with or without food.
Try to take this medicine at the same time each day.
It should be swallowed whole with water.
Do not crush or chew the medicine.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Get up and move around to feel awake, take small naps to edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid fatigue and eat a healthy food to boost energy.
Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee.
Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly and smaller and frequent meals. Applying a heat pad or covered hot water bottle on your stomach may also help. If still pain persists, speak to your doctor.
Drink lot of fluids, such as water or squash, to avoid dehydration. Do not take any other medicines without consulting to a doctor.
Nausea and vomiting:
Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.
