Azopt Eye Drop

The active ingredient of the drug is Brinzolamide Opthalmic Suspension. It is an eye care medication.

Azopt Opthalmic Suspension is a medicine used to reduce increased pressure in the eye, in people with glaucoma or ocular hypertension(high pressure in the eye).

If the pressure in your eye is too high it can damage your sight. Azopt Opthalmic Suspension works by decreasing the amount of fluid inside the eye.

Never use Azopt Opthalmic Suspension if the seal is broken before you use it for the first time. Wash your hands before using it and shake the bottle well before each use.

If you wear contact lenses, make sure you remove them before instilling them and wait for at least 15 minutes before putting them back.

Do not stop using this medicine without asking your doctor. Otherwise, the pressure in your eye will not be controlled and this could damage your sight.

The most common side effects are blurred vision and a bitter taste in your mouth. Sometimes people experience more general effects such as shortness of breath, dizziness, tiredness, or heart palpitations.

If your vision is blurred or you have other changes in sight for a time, do not drive until your vision is clear.

Do not use this medicine if you have severe kidney problems or are allergic to medicines called sulphonamides. Talk to your doctor before taking it if you have liver problems, dry eyes, or cornea problems.

This medicine is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use other eye medications unless your doctor tells you to.

USES OF THE DRUG:

The medicine is mainly utilized for the treatment of some types of glaucoma and there causes of high IOP. The medicine may be used for other purposes not mentioned above.

AZOPT EYE DROPS 5ML belongs to a class of anti-glaucoma agents called carbonic anhydrase inhibitors primarily used to treat increased pressure in the eye in conditions.

Glaucoma is an eye condition that causes damage to the optic nerve (essential for good vision) due to abnormally increased pressure in the eye.

Ocular hypertension is increased pressure in the eye due to poor drainage of aqueous humour (fluid in the eye that maintains normal pressure by its continuous flow).

AZOPT EYE DROPS 5ML contains Brinzolamide that works by inhibiting the action of carbonic anhydrase enzyme and decreasing bicarbonate production essential for the production of fluid of the eye (aqueous humour).

Thus it reduces the secretion of eyes fluid called ‘aqueous humour’ that maintains pressure in the eyeball and in turn lowers the raised pressure in the eye by reducing aqueous humour entry into the eyeball.

Thus, AZOPT EYE DROPS 5ML prevents eyes from getting blind in the conditions of open-angle type glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

AZOPT EYE DROPS 5ML is only for use in the eyes. Do not swallow or inject AZOPT EYE DROPS 5ML. Apply one drop of AZOPT EYE DROPS 5ML in the morning and night in the affected eye.

Your doctor will advise you how many drops to instil based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience eye discharge, redness, itching, irritation or pain in the eyes, blurred vision, abnormal eye sensation and dry eyes.

Most of these side effects of AZOPT EYE DROPS 5ML do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects worsen or persist, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to AZOPT EYE DROPS 5ML or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. AZOPT EYE DROPS 5ML is not recommended for children below 18 years of age.
