The dosage of the medicine will be fixed by your doctor after examine you thoroughly. And after consideration of several factors such as weight, age, response to treatment, drug interaction, severity of condition and so on. The dose that is usually prescribed is mentioned below:
For adults the initial dose may be 5 mg which may be increased to 10 mg once daily.
Children between the age group 6 to 17 years will be prescribed with the dose of 2.5 mg and it can be increased to 5 mg once daily.
For elderly the usual dose is 2.5 mg once daily.
The above dosages may vary on a case to case basis.
HOW TO TAKE THE DRUG?
The medicine needs to be swallowed with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food. Taking the medicine at the same time each day is desirable.
FOR HOW LONG TO TAKE IT?
It is important to take the medicine for the prescribed period of time and not to discontinue it suddenly. Discontinuance of the medicine may lead to it not working properly.
Over dose of medicine can lead to side effects such as dizziness, confusion, nausea, red skin rash, diarrhoea, vomiting, rapid heart rate, fainting and so on.
